National Feral Cat Day Award Recipients

Alley Cat Allies awards will help local organizations fund humane programs for cats in their communities

“Since Alley Cat Allies started National Feral Cat Day 12 years ago, we have celebrated the growing number of communities that have adopted positive, sustainable and compassionate programs for cats,” said Becky Robinson, president and co-founder of Alley Cat Allies.
National free-roaming cat advocacy group Alley Cat Allies has announced the 22 recipients of the National Feral Cat Day Community Impact Awards.

The announcement arrived ahead of the 12th annual National Feral Cat Day, Oct. 16. Each recipient receives a $1,000 award; 16 additional runners-up each receive a $500 award.

“We are proud to honor these grassroots organizations who are working hard in their communities to provide humane education and programs to help save the lives of cats,” said Becky Robinson, president and co-founder of Alley Cat Allies.  

The recipients of the 2012 National Feral Cat Day Community Impact Awards include:

•    Cat House on the Kings (Parlier, CA)
•    Concerned Citizens for Animal Welfare of Volusia County (Daytona Beach, FL)
•    SNAP-2 IT (Atlanta, GA)
•    Save Our Shelter Animals (Topeka, KS)
•    Humane Society Animal League for Life of Madison County (Richmond, KY)
•    Animal Advocates, Inc. (North Darmouth, MA)
•    Rude Ranch Animal Rescue (Harwood, MD)
•    PAWS Brave Hearts (Calais, ME)
•    Stray Feral Rescue (St. Paul, MN)
•    AniMeals (Missoula, MT)
•    Ocracats (Ocracoke, NC)
•    Animal Protection League of New Jersey (Budd Lake, NJ)
•    Carson Tahoe SPCA (Carson City, NV)
•    Animal Alliance of Greater Syracuse (Baldwinsville, NY)
•    Ohio Alleycat Resource (Cincinnati, OH)
•    Steelton Borough Community Cats (Steelton, PA)
•    Animal Allies (Spartanburg, SC)
•    Paw-Purr P.E.T.S. (Blountville, TN)
•    advoCAT TNR Group of Rancho Viejo (Rancho Viejo, TX)
•    Central Valley Coalition for Animals (Clovis, CA)
•    Save A Kitty Feral Cat Program (Parkersburg, WV)

The recipients were chosen from hundreds of applicants for their innovative and sustainable programs planned in honor of this year's National Feral Cat Day, Robinson said. “These model programs will have long-term impact in their communities, and we look forward to building relationships with these committed organizations.”
