Cat Agility
See cat agility in action Jan. 26 and 27 at the San Diego Cat Fanciers' cat show in Del Mar, Calif.
The San Diego Cat Fanciers' annual cat show is billed as the “Biggest cat show west of The Rockies,” and this year it could be larger than ever. The Food and Water Bowl XXI at the Del Mar Fairgrounds Jan. 26 and 27 will feature 41 cat breeds from across the United States as well as feline agility trials.

This all breed show additionally offers a household pet competition. Any spayed or neutered non-pedigreed cat is eligible to compete in the household pet class.

Organizers have also planned educational talks for attendees. Subjects include what breed work best for which families, feline history, grooming needs, cat health and showing cats. Shopping is available at the “Meow Mall,” which offers cat trees, cat beds, cat jewelry, artwork, cat food and more.

The cat agility trials will show competing cats with the best speed and cats who best complete hurdles courses, hoop runs and tunnel runs.

Admission is $9 adults and $7 seniors, military and children. Hours are 10 am – 5pm Saturday and 9 am- 5 pm Sunday. The show is located at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd, Del Mar, Calif.

For information on showing or attending contact the San Diego Cat Fanciers Association.

We've seen several agility at Madison Square Garden. They're a lot of fun to watch.

I LOVE watching Feline Agility at local Cat Shows. While I've been in Sacramento since 1998, I'm originally from SoCal, and showed in the 80's all over the SoCal region. I'm disabled now, and had to have my 2 Service Cats put down within 5 months of each other last year. At a local TICA show last January, I saw two 7mo old sisters up for adoption by the Sac City Shelter. I ended up adopting one of them, as my new Service Cat. Patches is a purrfect little Service Cat who is learning quickly the things that 16.5yr old Velcro was doing. Then I lost Airborne. I quickly called to see if Patches' sister, (Blair, NOW Cleocatra:)), was still available, and I adopted her when she was 11mos old. After being without a computer for 6yrs, I'm finally back online, but have lost track of the local Shows. It has been about a year since I first saw and adopted one of my two sisters at a local "Jazzy Cats" show, which had Agility at a show a few years ago, and I am wondering if anyone knows when the next show will be, and where. Please respond ASAP to: mprcatmom@live.com
