With National Dress Up Your Pet day today, we asked CatChannel Facebook fans if they have tips to dressing up your cat and these are some of their answers.

Advice on Dressing Up Cats
  • First and most important! Trim their nails. Many calmer breeds of cat do not mind being dressed and fussed over. If you start when they are very young, they will not fuss at all. Like Persians are bathed every month, and love it, most other cat owners would shudder to even consider washing their kitties. – Teresa Bergman
  • If you want a funny picture, dress cats undress them when they are sleeping! Kimberli Gregory
  • I dressed Bartley up in an elf costume for a holiday photo shoot. He has cerebellar hypoplasia so he's relatively easy to work with as a kitty model. I made sure the costume was roomy and comfortable, gave him treats and – most important – took it off when it became clear he had enough! – P Jones Communications Inc
  • It was just a Christmas jingle scarf and Santa hat. Lasted just over 2 seconds. I got the stink eye and snubbed I learned my lesson.  – Aledra Cornele-Wells
  • I dressed up my kitties (6 months old at the time) for Halloween and they both fell right asleep. – Love Saving
  • My girls don't, but my boys do, one being a service animal that visits nursing homes and dresses up for them. We started them both when they were very little and they took to it very well. – Carol Carter
  • It's war of the worlds just to put his collar back on. Outfits? What do you think I am, insane? A cute harness disguised as an outfit or an adorable hat would be nice, but that's me dreaming. – Nye Phillips
  • Why cover up all that natural beauty? Cats hate it. I will never dress a cat up. – Laura Flannigan

The cat in that picture looks less than thrilled.

My cats' advice is, "Don't dress me up!" However I have had cats that didn't mind it so much.

Yeah, I can imagine the look my cat would give me if I tried to dress her up. Kind of the same look I get when I put her in her thunder shirt.
