Just a few days after reporting that only seven female Amur leopards were left on the planet, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) said it appears that another one has been killed.

Hunters in Russia’s Far East have shot and killed one of the last surviving female Amur leopards living in the wild, according to the WWF.

Last week, environmentalists said a new census estimated that only somewhere between 25 and 34 Amur leopards were still alive in the wild, but at least 100 are needed to guarantee the species’ survival.

A hunter shot the Amur leopard through the tail bone. It tumbled over and was then hit over the head with a heavy object, Pavel Fomenko, WWF’s regional biodiversity coordinator said.

“The killing of even one female is a huge loss for a cat on the brink of extinction. This year’s census showed a desperate situation, with just seven female Amur leopards left in the wild and four rearing cubs. Now we've lost a mature, reproductive leopardess and her potential cubs,” said Darron Collins, a WWF spokesman.

I am very disappointed of the hunters. I hope that one the hunters, not only the ones that hunted the Amur cats, the ones that hunt and kill the wild life to suffer with shame but when he or she asks for forgiveness he or she will never be forgiven and forgot because of what they did. I suffer every minute because of this treachery. It is their fault that the world is in danger. It is the people who cut down the Amazon Rain forest who will cause us our lives because of lack of oxygen. It is every bodies fault that we are taking away plants and animals homes so we can have houses, factories, stores, malls, and many more. Why don't we help the environment and ourselves to prevent this treachery?
What the Russian hunters did to the Amur female cat was totally wrong! i will always be against the wrong. I have suffer a lot because every day there is about a thousand animals without homes. I am very sad that every day there is a specie that is being extinct and that there is a specie or even more that is becoming endangered. I promise to give my life to protect the animals as much as I can when I become a zoologist.

The hunter or hunters that did this to that poor leopard should be shot through their tailbone and then clubbed over the head with something heavy. And these hunters didn't even have the lame and illegal excuse that they were hunting this cat either for meat or the hide. People like this truly digust and sadden me. My son and I are in mourning for not only the female that was killed, but for the entire species. This is a very sad day for wildlife animal, and cat lovers all over the world. I hope that they catch the person or psrsons responsible and punish them severely for their horrible crimes!!
