Interactive exhibits and games will entertain and educate pet lovers of all ages June 23-24.

Animal Planet Expo comes to Cullen Park in Houston, Texas, June 23 and 24. Sponsored by Animal Planet television network, Comcast and Fresh Step cat litter, the expo celebrates the important role pets and other animals play on this planet. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Events planned for this year’s expo include Frisbee dog shows, interactive trivia games and live-animal presentations featuring pythons, alligators and lemurs. New this year is R.O.A.R., which stands for Reach Out, Act, and Respond. Animal advocates at the R.O.A.R. booth will encourage animal lovers to make a promise to help animals, whether that is playing with the family cat each day or supporting a favorite wildlife foundation.

The makers of Fresh Step cat litter will sponsor the Pet Den, which provides pet adoption opportunities for potential pet owners and helps new pet owners identify the right type of cat or dog for their family. William Fogler, D.V.M., will be present at the Pet Den from 10 a.m. to noon both Saturday and Sunday to answer pet-related questions. Fresh Step and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will also make a $5,000 donation to Citizens for Animal Protection during the Expo.
