October 17, 2005
Beginning Sept. 16 through Oct. 30, 2005, the Moscow Cats Theatre from Russia will perform at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center. Twenty cats, two dogs and eight clowns will walk tightropes, jump, dance, and perform acrobatics and death-defying balancing acts.
Circus performer Yuri Kuklachev started the Moscow Cats Theatre in Russia almost 30 years ago. He decided to start working with cats after discovering an abandoned kitten in a park.
The cats are the stars of this show. They walk tightropes, balance balls on their noses, do paw-stands, jump from great heights and negotiate complex mazes, Kuklachev says. We glorify them, and that's why we provide the cats with a traveling entourage, including a vet, kitty caretakers and personal stylists to tend to the needs of our feline superstars.
The feline exhibition runs each weekend from Sept.16 until Oct. 30, 2005. For further information, visit the Moscow Cats Theatre.
