CatBank, a new DNA service provider, launched its database program Thursday giving cat owners and breeders the opportunity to confirm their cats parentage, test for inherited diseases and preserve their pets genes for the future.
Features include Feline Finder, an online marketplace where cat owners and breeders can list and sell DNA-certified cats to prospective buyers; CatBank Database, an online service where owners and breeders can access their cats DNA records and transfer DNA certificates to clients electronically; and MeowPlex, the CatBank DNA ID test that identifies individual cats based on their DNA.
CatBank is sponsored by the Cat Fanciers Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the registration of pedigree cats, in partnership with BioArts Science Center, the parent company of Genetic Savings & Clone based in Sausalito, California.
