Australian Cats

Landslide Victory for Australian Cats

Pet food promotion finds felines are more popular than canines.

There are cat people, and there are dog people. Apparently, Australia is a cat country.

Cats received more than twice the number of votes as dogs in a presidential-style promotion called Doggies or Moggies, according to the Australian newspaper Ayr Advocate. Moggy is an Australian term for a housecat.

Conducted by MasterFoods, the makers of Whiskas and Pedigree brands, the final tally showed that 63,134 people in Australia consider moggies the cats meow, while 27,403 prefer the dogs life.

The results are somewhat of a revelation in Australia, where there are at least a million more dogs than cats, the newspaper reported.

The promotion which also included pet-bed giveaways and other prizes was conducted through mail-in ballots and on the Whiskas and Pedigree websites.

Cat/dog, does it matter? Silly pole imo.
