Reports this week state the pet-food recall has been narrowed to two brands: Diamond Maintenance Dog and Diamond Premium Adult Dog were identified as contaminated with aflatoxin in a company update on Jan. 11. Potentially contaminated bags have best by dates of April 3, April 4, April 5 and April 11, 2007; the products also have a capital G in the 11th or 12th position of the date code on 18- to 55-lb. bags, and in the 9th position on 4- to 8-lb. bags.
Independent laboratories tested more than 2,700 product samples to determine that other brands previously subject to recall are safe.
