Stumpy the cat is back home, although where he went and what sort of adventure he had remains a mystery especially because he has only two legs.
The Siamese cat, whose left legs and tail were amputated two years ago, was returned to the Spring Lake Animal Hospital in Keystone Heights, Fla., on Jan.6, according to local reports. Stumpy had been missing for about a month.
Employees at the clinic were ecstatic when a woman brought the cat in and asked if he belonged there, the reports stated. Following his disappearance, worried staff members posted flyers and the local newspaper ran an article on the search for Stumpy. The cat could not have gone far on his own, they reasoned, since he can only move around by hopping.
The anonymous woman who brought Stumpy back said that someone had left him and a white kitten on her porch, but she left before employees could ask anything else, according to Dr. Tamra White, the clinic veterinarian.
Eventually I knew a two-legged cat would get talked about, White said.
