DNA Proves Dog Killed Neighbors Cat

Evidence is not enough, however, to declare German Shepherd Dog as dangerous.

Marylin Christian knows her neighbors German Shepherd, Lucky, was responsible for killing her cat Cody last summer and she has the DNA evidence to prove it.

Christian, who found her mauled cat near a tree at her Lovettsville, Va., home, sought scientific proof to implicate Lucky after her initial attempts to declare the dog dangerous were unsuccessful, according to the Washington Post.

But it is unlikely that Christian will get the justice that she wants. County authorities told her that the DNA results would not be accepted in court because the saliva and hair samples used for the tests were not collected by officers. Without a witness, said Loudoun County animal control and care director Thomas Koenig, there would be no case.

Luckys owners, Sean and Janet Daryabeygi, cooperated with Christian when she came to them for a saliva sample, but say that their neighbor is overlooking the natural enmity between dogs and cats, the Post said. The couple sent a letter offering their condolences, and installed a fence to keep Lucky enclosed.

Nevertheless, Christian feels that her four other cats and 1-year-old son would not be safe with Lucky nearby.

I feel for her. Neither animal should've been outside unsupervised. I would NEVER let my baby, Sasha outside.

I am both a cat and dog person, I have both 3-cats and 3-dogs living together but I trained the six of them to get along wiht the each other.

She needs to keep her cats in doors, living in the country dogs and other animals will chase and kill her cats. To have safe cats she can go back to the city. This an on going thing of Cats against dogs and the dog won.

She needs to just "Get over it"

What a cruel way for the poor cat to die! And in the first place, why didn't they fence that dog?

First of all, I feel really bad for this person to lose her pet this way. That would be very horrific to over come. Secondly, this is one of the reasons my cats are indoor cats only. Also, I would be concerned about leaving my child out with this dog also. This dog should not have been running around loose either.
