A 10-year-old longhaired cat in Texas named Miss Kitty is free at last after spending at least a week trapped inside a wall in an under-construction home.
The cats owner, Mike Brown of Dallas, said his family somehow lost track of their cat, who was a rescued stray. More than two weeks passed with no sightings, Brown said.
But as family members walked around a nearby house under construction, they could hear a faint meow.
They contacted the home builder, who then broke through the wall, and there was Miss Kitty. She somehow perched herself on a two-by-four sealed inside a wall of the home and survived, although she had lost about seven pounds.
Brown told WFAA-TV in Dallas/Fort Worth that he was told by the builder that the wall had been dry-walled about eight days earlier.
Ten years ago, the Brown family found the stray cat stranded alone in the street, so this is actually the second time the Browns have rescued her.
Brown said Miss Kitty probably used up five of her nine lives this most recent time. She's got about four of them left, he said.
