The Cat Writers Association (CWA) encourages all published writers and photographers to participate in the annual contest. This year CWA will offer a record number of corporate-sponsored special awards as well as its own Muse Medallions in about 35 categories encompassing writing and graphic arts.
This year, Purina Pro Plan will sponsor a special $500 award for excellence in writing about pedigreed cats, and Hartz Mountain Corp. will award $500 to the writer of the best article about feline skin and coat care. CWA will present Muse Medallions for excellent writing in the areas of veterinary research, health, behavior, nutrition, senior cats, kitten care, safety, humane issues and responsible ownership. Awards will be presented in fiction, special publication and online magazine categories as well.
The competition is limited to work published between June 16, 2005, and June 15, 2006. Rules and entry forms are available at the CWA website (www.catwriters.org) or by sending a self-addressed, stamped business-size envelope to Beth Adelman, 69 Poplar St., 2C, Brooklyn, NY 11201. The deadline for entry submissions is July 1, 2006.
The Cat Writers Association, founded in 1992, is dedicated to providing news, information and education on all aspects of cat care and welfare, as well as improving the quality of writing about cats.
