What's old is new again in the entertainment business, and the cat and mouse team of Tom and Jerry is experiencing a new surge of popularity. The duo recently garnered a new series on the Kids WB television network, and now, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is helping the pair get interactive in video games designed to work with the Nintendo DS system and Game Boy Advance.
Eidos Interactive will launch Tom and Jerry Tales this fall. The games, developed by Sensory Sweep Studios, follow Tom and Jerry on their typical games of cat and mouse. Players will adopt the role of Jerry the mouse and try to avoid Tom as they make their way back to the mouse hole.
Like any good video game, the player must avoid booby traps and other pitfalls as they maneuver Jerry back to safety. Tom continues to pull tricks out of his sleeve, too. Game designers provide scenery that honors the original cartoon while updating the look for modern game play.
