Molly Cat

Feline Survivor

Molly heads to New York City to compete in the Meow Mix House.

Cat SurvivorThe Houston Humane Society is sending an 11-month-old gray and white female cat named Molly to live with nine other cats in the Meow Mix House on Madison Ave., in New York City. The competition takes place June 13 through the 23 and will be broadcast on the Internet. Web surfers are invited to vote for their favorite feline competitor; the cat that receives the fewest votes each day will leave the house. The winner will be crowned as the feline vice president of research and development for the Meow Mix brand of cat food.

Though the cats may have to leave the house, they all end up winners. Each formerly homeless cat will go to a new loving home. When Molly leaves the house, shell return to Houston to live with Evelyn Arrington, who expressed an interest in adopting Molly even before she knew the cat might become famous.

Molly was one of three shelter cats the Houston Humane Society submitted for consideration. Mr. Cat and Spicy may not have made the cut, but the two runners-up have also been placed in permanent homes.
