Cat lovers, concerned citizens and animal welfare advocates from across Philadelphia are invited to meet Tuesday, June 20, to learn more about how to help the citys stray and feral cats.
The meeting, scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Radisson Plaza-Warwick Hotel, will include a presentation by Philadelphia Animal Care and Control Association's director, Tara Derby-Perrin about the state of cats in the city today and her hopes and plans for their future.
Also, Becky Robinson, national director of Alley Cat Allies, a national clearinghouse for information on feral cats, will talk about ways to manage cat populations and how individuals can get involved and find the best way to help.
Philadelphia has already made some terrific strides toward (its) goal of becoming a no-kill city, but there are still a great many stray and feral cats in the city in need of help. We hope this meeting will provide a way for people to hear about how they can help, and inspire more people to get involved in the rewarding work of helping animals, Robinson said.
The free meeting is sponsored by Alley Cat Allies, along with the Philadelphia Animal Care and Control Association, the Alliance for Philadelphia's Animals and the Philadelphia Community Cats Council.
