The North Idaho Animal Hospital, which has operated for a dozen years, has outgrown its current facility and construction on a new site is expected to begin this month.
The current facility measures about 3,500 square feet, and the new hospital will measure 10,000 square feet and should be completed late this fall, according to the hospitals co-founder, Ann Mehra.
North Idaho Animal Hospital currently employs 16 people, including three veterinarians. When the new facility is complete, the hospital expects to add two to three new employees.
When the new facility is completed, each cat will have its own individual condo, and grooming and boarding facilities will be expanded. Additionally, new medical options, such as laser surgery, will be added.
In 1999, the hospital doubled its size by expanding to the south but cannot expand in its current location due to parking issues, according to Mehra. Both the current and new hospital will be located in Sandpoint, Idaho.
