As part of the American Humane Associations Adopt-A-Cat Month in conjunction with the release of Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties, 20th Century Fox held promotions in malls across the country from June 10-17. At each mall location, a local animal shelter was present to promote adoptions of homeless cats.
The event was a huge success! The American Humane Association reported the following happy endings:
In San Francisco, 10 families adopted kittens from Purrfect Cat Rescue.
In Dallas, 13 cats went home with new families.
Five cats were adopted at an event held by Happy Strays Rescue in Los Angeles.
In Miami, 19 lucky cats were adopted by new owners.
Rainbow Animal Rescue brought cats to an event in Minneapolis, including a tabby named Garfield. Several of the cats found new homes.
Five cats were adopted from an event in Chicago.
In Denver, Table Mountain Rescue placed one cat in a new home, and had many other potential pet owners stop by. All interested families were encouraged to visit the shelter.
Each June, the American Humane Association promotes cat adoptions with Adopt-A-Cat Month. This year, Garfield lends his support again as the top spokescat for all homeless cats. Garfields new movie, Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties, opened in theaters June 16.
