The Michigan Lottery is asking cat owners in the state to submit pictures of their cats for possible inclusion on its Kitty Cash lottery tickets.
Cat owners have until July 14 to enter photos of their pets. Contest details are available at the lottery website at www.playercity.net.
The request comes on the heels of a highly successful Lucky Dogs scratch-off ticket, which featured the mugs of 10 Michigan canines.
The 5.4 million "Lucky Dogs" tickets sold out in just seven weeks better than twice as fast as the average scratch-off game.
Cat owners will not be compensated for sending in photos, nor will the owners of the cats chosen to appear on the tickets. Lottery staff will pick the winning cats.
About 2.47 million cats are kept as pets in Michigan homes, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association.
