The Maui Humane Society in Hawaii will extend its Adopt a Cat Campaign through July to allow more time for two-for-one cat adoptions.
The promotion was due to expire at the end of June, but humane societys executive director, Jocelyn Bouchard, has said that the number of cats being brought to the shelter is more than those being adopted and reclaimed by their owners.
Adoption fees for cats are $45; kittens cost $60. If a kitten is adopted along with a cat during the campaign, people would pay $60 for both. If two cats are adopted the cost will be $45; two kittens will be $60.
The adoption fee includes spaying or neutering; vaccinations; de-worming; flea treatments; a certificate for a free veterinarian check; a permanent identification tattoo or microchip, an identification tag; temporary collar; and a free bag of food.
Since the campaign began on Mothers Day, 181 felines have been adopted, according to the humane society. For more information, visit http://www.mauihumane.org.
