A Dover, Maryland woman, who was ordered out of her condemned townhouse last Friday after more than 100 cats were found in it, was found dead in the home earlier this week.
Dover officials found approximately 110 cats after condemning the home Friday, July 7 and the homes owner, 84-year-old Mary Haas was then placed in a nearby shelter.
But when cleanup crews returned to the home on the following Monday to resume their efforts, the decomposing remains of the woman were found in a plastic container inside an upstairs bedroom in the townhouse.
On Tuesday, July 11, a warrant was issued for Haas two daughters, Pamela Haas, 48, and Candy Haas, 43, on charges of abuse of a corpse and conspiracy.
The mystery began last Thursday when police, along with Dovers Inspections Department, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and the State Department of Health, started investigating a report of a suspicious odor coming from a townhouse.
