In October, more than 300 of Americas finest felines are expected in New York to compete at the 2006 CFA-Iams Cat Championship.
The show, sponsored by the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) and the Iams pet food company, will be held in New York Citys Madison Square Garden on Saturday, Oct. 15 and Sunday, Oct. 16.
The cats will converge at the event to compete for the title of Best in Show. The championships will place the spotlight on more than 300 pedigreed cats representing 41 recognized breeds registered by the CFA.
Among the breeds represented at last years show were Japanese Bobtail, American Curl, Maine Coon, Egyptian Mau, Ragdoll, Cornish Rex, Sphynx and Persian.
Returning to this years show is a spectator favorite, the feline agility competition. Last years event was won by a six-month-old Japanese Bobtail kitten, Wyndchymes Intrigue of Hajja, who navigated a series of eleven obstacles, including tunnels, stairs, poles and jumps, in 17 seconds.
