Feral cats live in groups in cities and towns across the United States. Knox, a noted photographer, noticed a growing colony of cats living in the alley behind his Atlanta studio. Intrigued, he began photographing how these feline families struggled for survival. As he studied the images he captured, he began noticing the strong bonds formed by the cats. Continued photo shoots revealed the cats unique personalities, leading to the foundation for his book: Urban Tails: Inside the Hidden World of Alley Cats.
Knoxs engaging images are accompanied by Sara Neeleys words, describing the cats daily activities as they live on the fringes of nature and industry. One minute the cats play together in the sun, while the next they crouch in fear under an 18-wheel semi-truck. Knoxs photos depict the hardship generations of feral cats face while also uncovering the beauty and love the cats share.
Published by New World Library, the 128-page Urban Tails will be available in September.
