During the month of August, the ASPCA will host several adoption events around New York City. ASPCA officials encourage New Yorkers to consider adopting a cat or dog. All animals present at the adoption events will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for breed-specific illnesses and diseases. This month, pet lovers who adopt a new cat or dog from the ASPCA will receive:
- A certificate for 14 days of free follow-up veterinary care at the Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital
- A leash and collar, or pet carrier, to help transport the new pet
- Literature and information about animal behavior and pet care
Adoption events will be held throughout New York City. Dates and places include:
- August 16, 4 to 8 p.m., Petland Discounts, 2708 Broadway
- August 18, 12 to 4 p.m., The Body Shop, 2159 Broadway
- August 19, 12 to 4 p.m., Habana Outpost, Ft. Greene, Brooklyn
- August 23, 4 to 8 p.m., Petland Discounts, 2708 Broadway
- August 25, 12 to 4 p.m., The Body Shop, 2159 Broadway
- August 26, 12 to 4 p.m., Habana Outpost, Ft. Greene, Brooklyn
