ASPCA Hosts Adoption Events in New York City

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals encourages pet lovers to adopt a cat or dog during the month of August.

During the month of August, the ASPCA will host several adoption events around New York City. ASPCA officials encourage New Yorkers to consider adopting a cat or dog. All animals present at the adoption events will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for breed-specific illnesses and diseases. This month, pet lovers who adopt a new cat or dog from the ASPCA will receive:

  • A certificate for 14 days of free follow-up veterinary care at the Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital
  • A leash and collar, or pet carrier, to help transport the new pet
  • Literature and information about animal behavior and pet care

Adoption events will be held throughout New York City. Dates and places include:

  • August 16, 4 to 8 p.m., Petland Discounts, 2708 Broadway
  • August 18, 12 to 4 p.m., The Body Shop, 2159 Broadway
  • August 19, 12 to 4 p.m., Habana Outpost, Ft. Greene, Brooklyn
  • August 23, 4 to 8 p.m., Petland Discounts, 2708 Broadway
  • August 25, 12 to 4 p.m., The Body Shop, 2159 Broadway
  • August 26, 12 to 4 p.m., Habana Outpost, Ft. Greene, Brooklyn
