Are you considering adopting a new cat or dog in the near future? The ASPCA wants to film you and your family as you go through the pet adoption process using the “Meet Your Match” program at the Boulder Valley (Colo.) Humane Society. The documentary will run on the Public Broadcasting Service network as part of the series “Nature.”
The Meet Your Match pet adoption program matches potential pet owners with their ideal pets through a personality and behavior assessment of both the people and the pets. Pets are placed in one of nine “alities” based on their behavior and temperament, and the category is added to the animal’s kennel card. A potential pet owner fills out a survey of 19 questions to help shelter workers match that person to the “ality” that best matches his or her expectations, lifestyle and home environment.
The ASPCA will be filming at the Boulder Valley Humane Society on Tuesday, June 17, and Wednesday, June 18, between the hours of 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. If you are interested in adopting a pet in the next week and can participate in the filming, e-mail James Reeves or Ellen Kent.
