Daisy doesn’t play near the street anymore, not since being hit by a car five years ago. The severe head injuries Daisy sustained from that accident left her blind but didn’t steal her spirit and enjoyment of life, the Lubbock (Texas) Avalanche-Journal reports.
In fact, Daisy continues to do the things cats do, according to Kathi Robinson, Daisy’s owner. The cat runs up and down the stairs, jumps up on the counter and even stalks the birds in her backyard. Robinson credits Daisy’s ability to get around to the cat’s sharpened senses.
“I’m sure she has an excellent sense of hearing, and they say their whiskers are very sensitive,” Robinson told the Avalanche-Journal. “I’m sure she has a good sense of smell, and she knows us.”
Daisy doesn’t like to be picked up, Robinson said, as it disorients her, but the cat gladly will curl up in someone’s lap. Changes to her environment may cause Daisy to bump into things.
“When I was setting the Christmas decorations up, she had a little trouble with boxes everywhere,” Robinson said. “She did run into things and got a little mad at me about that.”
