Cat Breed Organizations to Gather for World Cat Congress

The annual meeting, held March 28-31 in Texas, will convene purebred cat organizations from around the world.

Cat Breed Organizations to Gather for World Cat Congress
The goal of the meeting is to seek solutions to common problems in the feline breeding world that will benefit all cats, pedigreed and non-pedigreed alike.
Members of 10 international pedigreed cat registering organizations will convene at the Hilton in Houston, Texas, March 28-31, for the annual meeting of the World Cat Congress. Seminars and discussions throughout the weekend will cover topics such as legislation that could affect breeding programs of pedigreed cats, as well as ways to improve feline health and welfare. The goal is to seek solutions to common problems in the feline breeding world that will benefit all cats, pedigreed and non-pedigreed alike.

A Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) all-breed cat show also will take place at the congress. The show will be held March 29-30 at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Spectators are invited to watch the judging of the international entries from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The cats will be evaluated by four U.S. judges, as well as experienced evaluators from Australia, the Czech Republic, South Africa and Sweden.

“We look forward to welcoming delegates from around the world to our meetings,” said Pam DelaBar, current CFA and World Cat Congress president, “and to showing off our fabulous CFA-registered felines to the panel of judges at the show.”

Phasing out qualifying features that lead to the ill-health of the breed would be a step in the right direction.

Hope they will find common ground to end the improper breeding of cats. It is rare to find proper breeding of pure bred cats. Being in the rescue world to often we see improper breeding. Their needs to be laws that govern and protect these cats. Sadly then end up being put down at high kill shelters. I know because mu home has cats they have been improperly breed. Sadly Herbie died from PK deficiency! this is from improper breeding!
I know of some great breeders, but that is a rare thing!
