Cornell Launches Pet Health Website

The new website offers information about illnesses that affect cats and dogs.

Although the Internet offers a wealth of information about human diseases and their treatments, dog and cat owners are often at a loss. If your dog or cat was recently diagnosed with an illness, or you’re seeking information about common illnesses that affect pets, try the new website, Partners in Animal Health.

Launched by Cornell University, this resource offers free, easy-to-understand online videos. These videos provide information about modern treatments available for common medical problems, such as cancer and diabetes. Cornell aims to empower pet owners to make informed decisions about their dog or cat’s medical care and take a more preventative approach in maintaining pet health.

Selected topics include:

Pet Owners’ Guide to Cancer
This video is designed to give cat and dog owners a complete overview of cancer, including how a pet gets cancer, strategies for early detection, diagnosis and treatment. The video also presents behind-the-scenes footage of pets who undergo radiation and chemotherapy.

Caring for Your Diabetic Cat
This video features narrated step-by-step instructions on how to care for your diabetic cat. Topics include getting the diagnoses, treatment, administering insulin, nutritional therapy, and so on.

Home Care for Cats
This narrated step-by-step video shows you how to give your cat a pill or capsules, give your cat liquid medications, trim your cat’s claws, brush your cat's teeth, and so on.

To view free videos or purchase DVDs, visit the Partners in Animal Health website. Cornell welcomes questions or comments.
