More than 160 cat lovers in 37 states and three Canadian provinces submitted photos of their cute kids with their cute cats in the 2007 Cat Fanciers’ Association/Simon & Schuster Cutest Cat and Kid Digital Photo Contest. Jennifer of South Carolina impressed the five-member judging panel with her photo of her son and Bijou, the family cat.
Jennifer’s winning entry was announced at the CFA-Iams Cat Championship show in Madison Square Garden on Oct. 14. As winner, Jennifer will receive copies of 15 Simon & Schuster children’s and adult books, as well as CFA branded products, coupons for Iams cat food and a PetSmart gift coupon.
“I am floored that the photo won,” Jennifer said. “I am also touched as Bijou passed away since the photo was taken, but it still remains a favorite of ours.”
Pam DelaBar, president of CFA, said the organization is pleased with the response to this year’s contest. “This photo contest was an excellent opportunity for cat owners to show the wonderful and loving relationship that children have with their pet cats,” she said. “We received many beautiful photos, all portraying the love that kids have for cats, and vice-versa.”
