Elijah Wood reads Me and My Cat for the Screen Actors Guild Foundation’s Storyline Online program.
Elijah Wood, the actor known for his portrayal of Frodo Baggins in “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy and for voicing the character Mumbles in the animated film “Happy Feet,” is lending his reading talents to the Screen Actors Guild Foundation’s children’s literacy program. Wood reads the children’s story Me and My Cat by Satoshi Kitamura at the foundation’s Storyline Online website.

In the story, a young boy switches places with his cat, Leonardo, after a witch enters his bedroom and casts a spell on him. While Wood reads the story, website visitors can view the book’s illustrations.

Storyline Online is an online streaming video program that features Screen Actors guild members reading popular children’s books. The program is made possible by grants and underwriting from Verizon and Idearc Media.

For more information about Storyline Online and to view Wood reading “Me and My Cat,” visit the program’s website.

I think this is a great idea. This program will help students with visual/audio-processing issues. Kids would love to hear novels/short stories read by famous actors such as Elijah Wood that deal with topics that they are able to relate to.
