Iams pet food company launched an emergency assistance hotline on Thursday for those who have pet-related inquiries related to the California wildfires.
Pet health professionals will be available and assisting cat owners with issues such as smoke inhalation, evacuation, emergency pet preparedness, emergency pet feeding, hydration and wound care.
The hotline will be staffed from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, PDT. During off hours, a recorded message will play pet-related wildfire information. The Iams hotline number is (800) 508-9275.
In addition to helping cat owners through its hotline, Iams is donating two 9,000 pound shipments of cat and dog food to the Helen Woodward Animal Center in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. Each shipment will provide enough food to feed about 3,000 pets for seven days.
The animal center was evacuated on Monday due to the fires, however people and animals were allowed to return on Thursday. The first shipment of Iams food is scheduled to arrive on Friday.
