Could your cat qualify for his own credit card? |
Katherine Campbell of South Morang, Melbourne, Australia, wanted to test her bank’s security procedures regarding credit card accounts, so she requested — and received — a second Visa card in her cat’s name. The Bank of Queensland issued Messiah a credit card linked to Campbell’s existing Visa account.
“They sent me back the application form with his credit card,” Campbell said. “I wasn’t notified that a second card had been issued. Messiah could have put a different address, and the card would have been sent there, and I wouldn’t have known.”
When Campbell pointed out the mistake to the bank, bank officials apologized. The Bank of Queensland will investigate how Messiah received the card without proper checks of his identification — and a valid signature. In the meantime, Messiah’s card has been cancelled, along with his owner’s.
