As NASCAR gears up for the Daytona 500 Feb. 17 in Daytona Beach, Fla., the NASCAR Foundation is teaming with drivers to benefit several animal welfare organizations for a live and silent auction Feb. 13.
Money raised from the "Partners for Paws Spectacular" will go to the Greg Biffle Foundation, the Ryan Newman Foundation and the Halifax Humane Society to improve the lives of homeless animals. Ryan Newman and Greg Biffle are NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers and will co-host the event with NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Mike Skinner.
Several autographed NASCAR items will be up for bid including crew uniforms, photographs, hats, jackets and other collectibles.
"My wife, Krissie, and I first got involved with the Halifax Humane Society and helped out with their auction in 2005," Newman says.
"They do such amazing work rescuing, spaying and neutering animals in their community. I'm excited about taking this event to the next level by partnering with Halifax Humane Society, The NASCAR Foundation and the Greg Biffle Foundation to make this benefit a national effort to support animal welfare."
Tickets are $20 at the door. For event details, click here.
