The American Assn. of Feline Practitioners and Fort Dodge Animal Health of Overland Park, Kan., have launched a website that focuses on the importance of cat wellness by using checklists, flashcards and practical tips on a range of feline health care topics.

“With a growing number of people accessing the Internet for information, is an excellent vehicle to provide consumers with reliable, relevant information,” said Margie Scherk, DVM, Dipl. ABVP, and AAFP president. “This site provides essential information about many issues faced by cats and their care providers, from health and behavioral problems to transporting cats to the clinic, which, for many owners, is an obstacle to routine exams for their cats.”

I think the concept is great and there are some very interesting points on here. However, I thought there would be more information that you could type in and ask about on a specific subject. I have been on two other sites that you can look up a certain illness to try and understand what is wrong with your cat or you could e-mail and ask for information. I would say, so far, that this site is more for someone that has not owned a cat for years and years. If you have had many cats, you should already be aware of what is on here. Also, just as a point of humor, when they say never dump a cat out of the carrier; they have never met my Ms. Howie. She holds on inside with all four feet spread out and you have to literally drag her out, otherwise she is NOT coming out.
