The Humane Society of Missouri recently opened its newest location, the Chesterfield Valley Center, to serve the residents of West County and expand the shelter’s services. The new shelter offers traditional services, such as pet adoptions and veterinary care, while providing a unique habitat for homeless pets.
“The Humane Society is expanding our geographic reach to broaden adoption efforts and find more homes for animals in need,” said Kathy Warnick, president of the Humane Society of Missouri. “The growing population of the Chesterfield area offers homeless animals many opportunities to find wonderful homes.”
To encourage adoptions, the habitat for homeless pets at the new shelter features “invisible” cage fronts made of tempered glass, allowing both pets and potential owners to see each other clearly. “The new animal accommodations are more inviting, engaging and appealing,” Warnick said.
The new location will enhance the services already offered by the shelter’s Macklind Ave., Headquarters, Westport Area Branch, Longmeadow Rescue Ranch and Carol Gates Throop Memorial Park.
