The Friday the 13th nightmare on Elm trees was the recent Buffalo, NY, blizzard. Hidious loss of tall, stately trees and limbs compounded by 2' of snow. I feared for my two feral cats, who eat on my porch, but thankfully they made it through okay. Tortellina and Jorge were both very hungry after two days'absence. As the huge machinery collected the 8' piles of tree limbs, the ferals were too afraid to emerge, but they made a run to my house as soon as it quieted down. So far no sign of Fuzzy and Baby Doll, or the family of raccoons, who live in the empty lot across the street. It's in the 50s and sunny today, so some relief as the snow melts. Buffalo will never be the same, so devastated are our beautiful maples, elms, chestnuts and oaks. Fortunately, even tho thousands are without power, the City of Good Neighbors is standing tall!
