Vets Dispense Free Advice

Fifth Avenue Veterinary Specialists and the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals hosted a booth at New York’s Maddie’s Pet Adoption Festival on Oct. 22.

Pet professionals turned out for the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals pet adoption event Oct. 22.Veterinary specialists, veterinary technicians and other staff members from the Fifth Avenue Veterinary Specialists and 24 Hour Emergency Care center were on hand at Maddie’s Pet Adoption Festival to provide free veterinary advice. Volunteers also handed out health and safety information at the Oct. 22 event, held at Union Square Park in New York City.

The event was organized by the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals to encourage adoption of homeless cats and dogs and to promote proper pet care. Adoption fees were just $25 per animal, and the veterinary specialists were available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to answer pet owners’ questions about caring for their new companions. Pet groomers and trainers also attended the event, taking the time to answer owners’ questions.

Now THIS is a wonderful event, and one which should be held nationwide. I firmly believe more people would become involved in the plight of homeless and shelter animals.
