| Stormy the cat hopes to find a new home on The Best Friends Across America: The Kitty Tour. |
Since July 2007, Best Friends Animal Society has worked with Nye County Animal Control to provide care and find new homes for more than 800 cats suffering from abuse and neglect at the F.L.O.C.K. facility in Pahrump, Nev. While nearly 600 of these cats have found new homes, Best Friends hopes to place all the cats with loving families. With the help of a large, climate-controlled truck, the cats are hitting the road on an adoption tour.
“Thanks to an outpouring of donations and volunteers, Best Friends has been able to make major improvements in the health and well-being of these cats,” Danielle Aymar, Best Friends adoption manager, said. “Now, we are in urgent need of people who are willing to make the serious commitment it will take to help these cats who have suffered so much.”
The Best Friends Across America: The Kitty Tour adoption event will visit seven cities in 16 days to search for new homes for the cats. Potential adopters will be invited into the special truck to meet the cats, and “meet-and-greet” rooms will be set up so families and cats can get to know each other.
All stops on the Kitty Tour will be made at PetSmart locations, and the events will take place from noon to 7 p.m. The tour schedule is as follows:
