Panasonic has launched a new online community—SeeMyPetCam.com—that allows dog and cat owners to share and watch videos of their pets and communicate with other pet owners. One feature of the new site, PetCam, is an application on Panasonic network cameras that allows pet owners to monitor their animals from a computer or mobile phone.
“Pets have always been an important part of the family, and Panasonic recognizes that this community could benefit from products and services that fit their lifestyles and needs,” said Bill Taylor, vice president of the Communications Solutions Group for Panasonic. “We want pet owners to know there are technologies available from Panasonic that will provide peace of mind when they are away from their homes.”
To demonstrate the live video capabilities of the PetCam and to help homeless animals find loving homes, Panasonic installed network cameras at Common Sense for Animals, a no-kill shelter in New Jersey. The live video allows potential pet owners to see adoptable animals online. Panasonic also has donated funds to the shelter to help support its mission to find pets homes.
“We’re thrilled by Panasonic’s generosity to donate their PetCams, because seeing is believing, and with the help of live video, potential pet adopters can view the animals needing a loving family, all before even making a trip to the shelter,” said Robert Blease, DVM, president of Common Sense for Animals.
