PetSmart Launches Earth Day Recycling Drive

Customers can donate old ink cartridges and cell phones to help pets.

Posted: April 22, 2008 2 a.m. EDT

If you have old ink and toner cartridges or an old cell phone you don’t use, pitch them in a recycling bag provided by PetSmart.

In honor of Earth Day (April 22), PetSmart locations are providing prepaid recycling bags you can pick up, toss old cartridges and phones in, and send. This simple task not only reduces the clutter in your home but also generates a $2 donation for every inkjet cartridge and $5 for every laser cartridge for PetsMart charities.

Customers can visit Cartridges and Phones.com to purchase refilled inkjet and laser cartridges and refurbished cell phones at up to a 70 percent discount while generating a $2 or more donation to PetSmart Charities.

To learn more, visit the PetSmart Charities website.

i work at petsmart and yes that is a good thing to do but the company does nothing for itself as far as recycling when items are disc. they are put in the trash they would rather fill up the trash then to sell things without a profit or donating it to a shelter such as food, leashes, collars, etc. nor do they recycle the trash. i have been asking for a recycle bin for the break room and nothing even the shopping center does not have any recycling. it is such a shame that companies sell stuff that is from or can be recycled but they do not put there money into recycling any off the trash they get rid of everyday. i mean hundreds of good products goin out to the trash. so sad

Well I already donate my used cartridges to PetSmart charities. I've sent a couple since I've had my current printer (I don't print a lot) and I'm almost done with the cartridge in there now. I don't think I can buy my cartridge from the website they referred to, as the printer I got was a exclusive deal and the cartridge is supposedly only available from the manufacturer or Circuit City. I'll check though.
