Beginning May 19, a group of exotic cats – two adult tigers, two younger ones and a lioness – will be on public display at the Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary in Missouri.
“We have been working very hard preparing the facility and the animals for public viewing. We are excited to open our doors to the general public and begin working on our goal of education,” program coordinator Christina Kimerle said.
A May 18 pre-opening event at Crown Ridge will feature a 6 p.m. ribbon cutting, hors d’oeuvres, and live music. Guests can tour the perimeter and view each animal, while learning various lion and tiger facts.
Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary will have two tour options for the public to view the animals and a new “living classroom.” The classroom is filled with replica skulls, teeth, claws, and bones to touch and compare.
A presentation will be given on training, habitats, conservation efforts, animal observation and basic facts. Each presentation will be followed by a hands-on classroom activity.
The Sanctuary is a USDA-approved facility meeting a set of standards as outlined by the USDA and the Animal Welfare Act.
Crown Ridge, a 55-acre estate located in Ste. Genevieve, Mo., is home to Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary, Tiger Ridge Restaurant and three bed and breakfasts.
