| Rio hopes to find a new home at the Santa Fe Station casino this weekend. |
Best Friends Animal Society will bring 50 cats from the FLOCK facility in Pahrump, Nev., to the Santa Fe Station in Las Vegas for a special adoption event on Sunday, Sept. 30. The animal welfare organization and the casino invite cat lovers to come meet the cats and take home a new feline friend.
“Station Casinos recognizes the importance of pets in families’ lives,” said Staci Columbo, Station Casinos’ vice president of marketing and advertising. “We hope our community opens their hearts and homes to these pets in need.”
Among the cats available for adoption at this weekend’s event is Rio, a sweet gray and white cat who loves to snuggle. Best Friends volunteers report that Rio enjoys cuddling with people, but would probably do best in a home where he is the only cat. Rio and 49 of his feline friends are waiting to meet new owners this weekend.
Sunday’s event will take place at the Santa Fe Station at 494 N. Rancho Road in Las Vegas, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Station Casinos will sponsor another event on Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sunset Station located at 301 W. Sunset Road in Henderson.
