Revised Testing Guidelines
Prevent the spread of feline leukemia virus and feline immunodeficiency virus. Have your cat tested today.

Although no cure exists for feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), testing can prevent the spread of both diseases and can prolong infected cats' lives, the American Association of Feline Practitioners and the Academy of Feline Medicine conclude in a document outlining new FeLV and FIV testing recommendations. The report includes the following points: The FeLV status of every cat and the FIV status of cats older than 6 months should be known; and kittens and cats should be tested before joining a household, as should cats in existing households where the FeLV or FIV status is not known and cats that show signs of illness. Contact your veterinarian with questions about FeLV or FIV testing.
